My daughter, in her teens, used to say I framed my photos to selectively show life as I'd like it to be...yes, and her point is...? I like little vignetts in my life to counterbalance "cat decor" and things you've yet to see...and may never! I love things "vintage" and "Victorian" but the reality of it all is just out of camera range.
very beautiful - the window and the bottles complement each other perfect. That's whatt I like about photography - it's everything from beautifully framed Victorian montages to the grittiest of photo-reportage. And I know what you mean about counterbalancing cat decor - I'm working with boy/dog/gerbil decor here and losing the battle!
The stained glass window is a perfect background for the vintage bottles! Love the composition of this shot! (And, we've gotten to know you just a little bit better ...)
Oh Louise, I adore vintage and Victorian things, too. Used to have a subscription to "Victoria" magazine and drooled over everything in it. This photo is so wonderful. I can't tell you how much I love it. And I think it's sweet to show "life as you'd like it to be."
My copies of "Victoria" (from issue #1) are the only magazine I won't throw out! I just started a new subscription to "Victoria Bliss" and they still publish photographs that draw me in. A couple of times I've left a comment that a photo is like something out of "Victoria", and from me, that's a highly paid compliment!
i bet your house is so lovely. don't we all frame photos to block out the 'unwanted things' like in my house a rumpled blanket a toy a pencil a diaper and a mass of toys. sometimes these things can be beautiful too but i say focus on the simple beauty :) love this shot.
Thank you ALL for the very nice notes; it's a delight to receive them through the day. Tomorrow I'm going to join the "One to Ten" group...anyone want to wager what I've been up to? (The good news is that the squirrels don't run in packs!)
Your daughter has an interesting thought. I've been thinking about it...and maybe we all, in some ways, do selectively arrange our pictures the way that we want life to be.
Oh those are all gorgeous! Love how you framed the shot and all the lovely details. Such a romantic feel, thanks so much for sharing another glimpse into your life how you want it to be. :)
I am a former "Victoria" subscriber as well and I love this picture! It makes me want to take a bubble bath!
(Louise, re: my rabbit Ringo, he is definitely a house rabbit! He has a litter box in his cage, so he spends all day out with us when we are home. And yes, we have had to rabbit -proof all electrical cords! He is a velvety mess! He zips around and makes us laugh all the time! :-)
The stick thingies are last years branches! I leave them over the winter to protect the plant until the spring. I am about to prune it all the way back to the new growth :o)
I have had a crazy couple of weeks. Too much going on and have put my project on VERY temporary hold. The thing I've been missing most is logging in and checking out all of the awesome photos here. Thanks for the nice comments. I'll be back VERY soon :-)
I love that the flowers on the wall paper are the same color as the pink rectangles on the stained glass, and that the flowers on the largest bottle are white like the uncolored parts of the window. :)
