Ken and I are about to become Grandparents for the first time!
Our daughter Ashley and her husband, John, are expecting their first baby in mid-October. We've waitied patiently a long time for this to happen. I had lunch and a long afternoon's visit with best friends today and told them the news. Nearly all my friends are already grandparents, so it was like being drawn into their inner circle.
We have plans to be in Chicago when the baby is born...and we're all going to have to wait to find out if it's a boy or girl. "Little Peanut" is going to also join the circle...of well-photographed babies!
WhaaaaaaaHooooooo! Congratulations on such wonderful news. We'll have to watch this space for developments :D
We have one granddaughter and it's so wonderful to be part of her life and she ours.
Welcome to the club !!!
Oh Louise! How wonderful! Congratulations!
I'm excited for you, too.
Both my kids know how much Brad and I can't wait for grandbabies...but..no pressure! lol
It looks like you and I both will be having very exciting Octobers! Wheee!
It was kismet, karmic timing, meant to be...for when I logged in, there you were at the top of my home page!
SO glad I caught it!
BIG hugs, Louise!
You know why! ;-)
XO
Congrats! That is great news, how exciting for you and your husband to become first time grandparents! Congrats to your daughter and her husband as well :)
oh that is great news and congratulations to you both. life starts over when you become a grandparent, but always remember that time just flies and all of a sudden they are grown up so treasure every moment and later you will truly enjoy the memories of earlier days with your grandchild or hopefully future grandchildren.
Louise my I e-mail you a poem i wrote to my granddaughter's 21st birthday in remembrance of all the fun times we have had together or shall i post it with a picture of her?
What exciting news! How could you possibly have kept that secret?!!?
You and Ken are going to be the world's greatest grandparents!
I *love* this sculpture, Louise! But, you neglected to tell us anything about it! Was it a gift for you or are you going to gift it to Ashley and John?
oooh, how absolutely wonderful! i am so happy for you! i'm still waiting for doctorates and degrees to be dealt with before i can move into that circle. enjoy the journey!
How wonderful, Louise. Congrats to you and Ken! " Little Peanut" is my endearment for Hannah. I use it more than her name! For some unknown reason I have lately begun to call her "Peanut Butter". What a silly evolution of her nickname :o) We will all be waiting for the promised photos of your "Little Peanut".
Congratulations!!!!! I love hearing about other people having their first baby . . . ours has been such a life-changing experience in all the best ways. I'm happy to hear that your Ashley is going to give you a grandbaby!
aww congrats grandma!! thats so awesome! i know its not the same but when my nephew was born i just absolutely fell in love with him and everytime i see him i hog him haha. i know you will make a great grandma :) by the way this picture is really cute.
Congratulations to you all! "Little Peanut"...You've been hangin' with the Squirrels too long Louise...lol. You two are going to be the best Grandparents ever!
Congratulations to you and the parents! I have to tell you that being a grandparent is terrific. My husband keeps asking, "did our kids do that?" He missed out on a lot of their day-to-day antics when they were growing up (he was oblivious), but now he is enjoying our grandson growing.
Congratulations der Louise. So a good news it is. Let us share some photos from the surely cute baby. Shuery 'cause I've seen you and Ken. They exactly have some beauty inherited from you both. Oh... Just a question. Is it correct to use They instead of He or She in contemporary English? Sorry for the inconvenience ;-)
Oh congratulations Grandma Louise!!! sorry i was sick yesterday and didn't get chance to post picture or making any comments, i'm way behind :) how exciting! i bet the little one is going to get spoiled rotten by you and Ken :)
CONGRATULATIONS!! CONGRATULATIONS!! CONGRATULATIONS!! That is wonderful news. Fabulous news. Fantastic news. There is absolutely nothing better than being a grandparent and being able to love and spoil your grandchild. Having five of our own we can still remember the first one and how exciting it was as the time approached. So, again, congratulations to you and Ken and to Ashley and John. Oh, and your pic is nice too. :-)
Congratulations! My oldest was the first grandchild for both my parents and my husband's parents...very special. We also call her our "Little Peanut". She would even answer to that when she was aroune 18 months old! :)
Louise - go visit my last two photos. I replied to your comments but did not want to do it here since this wall of comments is a bit... ummm... long. LOL! =D
Congrats... Thats wonderful news.... Thank you for the comment on my photos....
the kodak HQis quite the building- as you can see from my photo it's getting a bit of a face lift.... George Eastman's House is not too far from there and it's now a museum. Now that I think about it, It's been quite a while since I've been there, I just may have to have a visit.
Sadly for me (us), we're in CA and the baby will be in Chicago, so it's going to take airlines to get us back and forth. All the more reason to keep my good health with morning walks with the squirrels when I can't be there! (Back up at the top of this comment list I earlier left this link, least you should think the squirrels are but a memory: http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/268 )
Louise! Just look at all your messages!! You have become a part of a whole new family here and now yet another new family for you to enjoy on its way! :-))
CONGRATULATIONS, grandma!!! It's funny how happy i am for you =) i am 100% sure that i'm not the only one who believes you'd be one heck of a grandma. you spoil us with your kind words everyday so i can only imagine the ways you will spoil "little peanut."
Congratulations! I am so happy for you. And this sculpture is fantastic, where did you get it? I want one! Your little peanut is one lucky grandkid! :D
Gosh, I almost missed this...getting harder and harder to see everyone's photos each day! Louise, this is awesome news! People tell you how wonderful it will be but until you experience it yourself you cannot even imagine! I have one 2 yr old grandson and I have no idea how he already got to be 2!!!! What a joy these little "bundles of joy" are. Sooo happy for you and Ken...and of course your daughter and hubby!
Congratulations, what lovely news, I have a 3 yr old grandson who is gorgeous, like you I have to fly to see him, but it's well worth it, you'll have to get a webcam and Skype! Oliver is getting a brother or sister in September so I'll be one up on you when yours arrives, best wishes to Ashley and John, hope she keeps well. Lots and lots and lots of photo opportunities coming up! Have fun.
Thank you all **SO** much! This was a pretty exciting day to share!
Lux & Lyn and a couple of you earlier asked about the figurine. It's about 3" high, and I got it maybe about 15 years ago in a gift shop in Scottsdale, AZ. The baby's head is a little "marble" and is hard to set so the face shows...then I have to be careful not to lose it! Happily, I bought one other piece by this artist at that same time, and perhaps one day I can share a picture of it, too.
Congratulations! You are going to be an AWESOME Grandma to your little Peanut!
It will be so fun to see the photos as part of your year of pictures! It is great to share a year like this!
Huge congrats!!! Everyone tells me that if they knew being a grandparent was going to be that great they would have done that first! lol Get ready to fall in mad love! I can't wait to see the millions and zillions of pictures to come!
(in reply) Pink sounds adorable! they do have funny personalities! i spent the last two days with my friend and her two ragdoll cats. one is 10kg and would give Kirk Cornflake a run for his money in the cranky pants department!
Tabby is a giant! :D such a beautiful kitty! Must be hard work trying to get a cat to lose some weight! I was given Kirk for my birthday a few years ago at the same time I was given season one of Gilmore Girls. One of the characters has a giant cat named Cinnamon and they take it for walks while it sits in a wagon! I think I liked the idea of pulling a cat around on a wagon far too much as my cat is beginning to gain weight too!
In reply to your comment on my photo "his favorite", I don't bake every day, more often than most people, but not nearly every day. I have been known to be to lazy to go to the store to get bread and opt instead to bake some. Crazy, huh?
Wowie Zowie! How wonderful for you all! What a great little sculpture, too, that you've photographed to commemorate the news:-)
BTW - I just realized that you are not following me, so you're probably not aware that I'm on a little mini-trip to visit relatives over the next five days. I am staying in a motel tonight that has internet, but will be staying with the rellies after that and won't have any access (already going through withdrawal!). Anyway, I just wanted you to know that I asked Rebecca Mies to join us for dinner while you're in town and she said absolutely! We're hoping we can all get together that Monday night, the 10th. If you can think of anyone else from the Chicago area, let me know.
Well, congrats again, and hope to toast to your good fortune when you get to town. :-)
Louise, this is a nice shot of a beautiful sculpture! I am so happy for you and Ken! There is just simply NOTHING in the world like grandchildren. All those cliches about how great it is to have grandkids are really true! I hope you will have plenty of them. Hugs from one Grammy to another!
Congratulations Louise! Grandparents have the best job ever! So ENJOY!
P.S. Mary is still posting pics, she just has a huge school project so they are coming a little infrequently. I know she just put some up this morning.
oh awesome! you will be the best grandmother ever, i can't even imagine how wonderful you'll be. well, yes i can because you're kind of like a 365 mom to me, like everyone's biggest fan, a big hearted positive presence, everything that makes up a wonderful grandma. my mom tells me the love of a grandchild is unlike any other kind of love, so pure... your baby's baby, how wild that must be. jesse and i were talking about that day the other night and cried just thinking about it. so excited and happy for you! can't wait to see pictures in a few months...
move over squirrels- grandbabies will soon be taking center stage in pictures! SO happy for you--- my babies are the reason I discovered my love of photography- because Ma-ga and Pa-pa live so far away that they see their grandbabies (properly nicknamed Nugget and Buggy, and I like Peanut btw) through the pictures that I take until they can come and visit! Sorry my post is so late--- we had company in town and I wasnt able to get on the site to browse--- again, congrats- you will make a wonderful grandma!!!!
We have one granddaughter and it's so wonderful to be part of her life and she ours.

And your shot is really great too, what sort of a sculpture is it?
You and Ken are going to be the world's greatest grandparents!

"Bundle of joy"
Don't feed little peanut to the squirrels! ;o)
the little statue is very cute
The children chose their own spots and poses --- they are so darn CUTE! (Can you tell which ones are the active boys?!!? LOL!)
I have this strange feeling you're going to be the grandmother that spoils the baby rotten!
Thanks for all the back pats everyone!

Earlier Lindsey called me "Grammy Weezi"...I liked that one a lot cuz the family calls me Weezi(e), but you know how names can morph...
congrats again, nana! :D
Yup, you've caught me. I'm a little cat crazy!
