It's a Small, Small World by Weezilou

It's a Small, Small World

I have to tell you all, I'm still on an emotional high over the events of last week, and your loving outpouring of words and photos. You've been constantly in my thoughts and often in my conversation. As I looked down through the names of you who came by my photo of the turtle, I was thinking again of how the shell represents heaven and earth. And a song came to mind. This time, my image of roses is almost secondary to what I want to share with words...

It's a world of laughter,
A world of tears.
It's a world of hopes,
And a world of fears.
**There's so much that we share,
That it's time we're aware,
It's a small world after all.**

Chorus:
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small, small world.

There is just one moon,
And one golden sun.
And a smile means,
Friendship to every one.
**Though the mountains divide,
And the oceans are wide,
It's a small world after all. **

It's a Small World By Richard M. And Robert B. Sherman

I'm so filled with love for the people in this world. Today I heard from Ireland/Turkey, Australia, London,India, Iran, Brazil, Indonesia, Canada and all over the U.S. (including our Bulgarian girl). How lucky am I? How lucky are *We*?
Very lucky indeed! And thanks for sharing the words to that song! I absolutely LOVE this photo! (btw - i commented after you on my photo)
May 3rd, 2010

Lovely picture of beautiful roses, are they in your garden? What lovely thoughts again Louise, so true. What I love about this project is bringing people together from all over the world through the art of photography - the whole project is awe inspiring! Happy Monday ; )
May 3rd, 2010
Turkey here....that is such a beautiful poem and the photograph delightful. Thank you.
May 3rd, 2010
11.00 am in Turkey.....the day begins slowly..... good night and sweet dreams.
May 3rd, 2010
I just saw the title and I started singing the small world song out of instinct... it must be a California thing! I thought it was HILARIOUS that you commented "Would love to see the finished product!" on my photo of Andrea working on her photo project for YOU. I was going to make a comment but I've been behind on my comments and you beat me to it! But it still make he laugh. We want to play Scrabble and have a cuppa coffee with you one of these days. : ]
May 3rd, 2010
this is so beautifully phtographed ! Love it!
May 3rd, 2010
France here! It's a lovely rose Louise and you're right we need to say thanks to 365 for bringing together people from all over the world. I've been missing a bit this weekendbut it's nice to be back. belated Happy Birthday to Elizabeth in Turkey too, hope you're enjoying your holiday.
It is certainly a small world but our 365 bit of it has a big heart!
May 3rd, 2010
Louise I love roses, especially pink roses. These are beautiful.
May 3rd, 2010
Lovely!
May 3rd, 2010
I love the delicate nature of this photo- the pale elusive nature of an open rose always reminds me not to be afraid of being more open.
You are so right it is a small world and I feel so lucky that through 365 I suddenly have access to so much more of it than I could probably ever fit in to our casual global stroll. Thanks to some pretty incredible photographers who have been gracious enough to share their corner of the world with our little web community my list of 'must sees' has grown exponentially and since I am not a dip in and run kind of traveller I'm sure I'm not going to make it all the way through...but I'm going to give it a good go!!
May 3rd, 2010
Pam
I love that song! Thank you for your lovely comment and for being one of the people who made me feel most welcome when I started here. This place certainly wouldn't be the same without you! :)
May 3rd, 2010
Gorgeous, such a delicate pretty colour.
May 3rd, 2010
Such a beautiful sentiment to go along with a beautiful picture. We are lucky! :)
May 3rd, 2010
You turned the banality of this Disney song into a beautiful truth. I'll never hear it again without thinking of you.
May 3rd, 2010
Louise, your photo of the roses is sooooooo beautiful and goes so well with the words you have written. Beauty upon beauty. I'm sorry I have gotten so behind in looking at your pictures and extending my gratitude for your loving spirit. You are an inspiration to so many, and we are blessed to know you. Truly. I'm so glad your heart is so full and that you have been gifted with so many wonderful friendships all around the world.
May 3rd, 2010
You're right, Louise, this made me smile ... thank you! Happy Monday.
May 3rd, 2010
The pink roses are beautiful, Louise. You've captured how delicate and lovely it is. Pink is NOT my favorite color but I am loving this photo. I like the focus on the one that hasn't fully bloomed yet and the softness of those surrounding it. The different shades of pink are so pretty.

Great song choice, too =) My class sang to that in 3rd grade (gosh, that's over 20 years ago)
May 3rd, 2010
these are beautiful......
May 3rd, 2010
those are really beautiful....I'm sure they smell wonderful
May 3rd, 2010
Bulgarian girl here! ;-))) Louise, your beautiful photo and words put a smile on my face, which I am going to keep throughout the day! :-) It is a small world, after all, and the more we travel, the more I get convinced of that! People are different, but the same everywhere, and friendships last, even across mountains and oceans! 365 is a wonderful example of how even if you've never met somebody, you can feel as if you know them, because while they are looking out, photographing the outside, you are peeking in, getting to know their inner world. Thank you again for your beautiful words and photo! It's so nice knowing you!!! :-))
May 3rd, 2010
Absolutely beautiful!
May 3rd, 2010
This is so beautiful, Louise. I bet it smells amazing!

365 = a melting pot of love! :)
May 3rd, 2010
Very sweet soft pink roses! Love it!
May 3rd, 2010
I first heard this song in the summer of 1992 in Disneyland. Our daughter was 6 years old and we took every ride we could get. In one of them, the song was played over and over again. By that time, she couldn't speak English yet, but those words became our theme song for the rest of the vacation time and beyond. In the meantime, she has traveled more than 20 countries around the "small" world.
May 3rd, 2010
gorgeous picture!
May 3rd, 2010
@mirmax, we live just a 10 minute drive from Disneyland in Southern California, and both my girls were working there on Main Street about that time. Small World, indeed...
May 3rd, 2010

May 3rd, 2010
I love this muted pink color...it reminds me of my first prom dress! Layers of pink chiffon! (That was a long time ago!) Beautiful shot. I missed your turtle, so I am going to check it out now!
May 3rd, 2010
This is so pretty!
May 3rd, 2010
Very pretty Louise. So soft after the 'hard shelled turtle' You remember my worm found a hatched egg? We now have 3 young blackbirds coming with dad to be fed on the lawn. No sign of mum, either got her feet up or sitting on another clutch! Now all I got to do is get a picture of them!
May 3rd, 2010
Just seen your comment about where you live. When I was young we lived in the states for a year. As a family on our travels we visited that original Disneyland when it was no more than a few years opened!!! Showing my age to anyone who knows when that was!!!! :-)
May 3rd, 2010
It's so gorgeous Louise! How appropriate! The lyrics of this song is like I'm feeling these days, we are all in a small world! I love the surprise and the roses, thank you! (Hugs from Brazil)

The roses are so lovely, wish I could catch a whiff of them. You and the others here at 365 have truly become my cherished friends. I find myself looking forward to your photos each day because as someone else mentioned, I've come to know a part of you through your photography. You give me a glimpse into places I never knew, even those of you who live in the my city! Louise, you've become the matriarch of our "small world" and I thank you for bringing us together. I thank you for leading me to other photographers who find the joy in even the smallest things then share that joy with me through a carefully focused, or unfocused, lens. Thank you, again, for the delicate roses.
May 4th, 2010
Lovely roses how could they not be lovely?

Now, about the tune... It will now be an ear worm in my head for weeks!
