A Fog-Shrouded Morning in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia by Weezilou

A Fog-Shrouded Morning in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia

And that's the way we roll...

Yesterday the sun beat down on the thermometer outside our pantry window http://365daysintheyear.shutterfly.com/2068 and today we woke to the sound of the fog horn. For our morning walk, we went to Blue Rocks. This is the end of the road there when the tide was out. I'll take the weather either way...I love it all!
This is a beautiful photo, Louise! It looks like a postcard!
June 24th, 2010
oh the fog makes everything so soft. lovely colors!
June 24th, 2010
beautiful :)
June 24th, 2010
Oh Louise, this is such a beautiful photo. It makes me long to be right there ......
June 24th, 2010
I love a good foggy morning by the water. Beautiful location. Beautiful shot.
June 24th, 2010
It is so lovely! I lived in Boston for a few years and loved visiting the little seaport towns. Happy memories!
June 24th, 2010
Such a stunning photo Louise, the fog certainly makes the colours soft
June 24th, 2010
How beautiful!! I love the boats!! And the fog gives such a dreamy feel to the photo!! I like your attitude to the weather, Louise - whatever it is, you'll take it!! We can really use some rain here in Missouri, and hopefully we'll get some soon. Usually the Bulgarian weather comes here in a week, and it's been storming in Sofia lately, so I am hoping... :-) Thank you so much for your sweet note!! I am loving all the refreshing images everybody is posting! The 365 community is constantly growing, and keeps me glued to the PC screen! I also wish there could be more hours in a day, because I don't want to miss not even a single shot! It's hard to keep up with the comments, the popular page and the latest photos... But at the same time, it's such an enjoyable pastime! :-) Looking at your four-digit number of favorites, I can tell that we are both addicts! ;-))
June 24th, 2010
This is GORGEOUS, Louise! Postcard perfect!
June 24th, 2010
This is so pretty...My husband has extended family in Nova Scotia and he keeps saying he wants to go visit. After seeing all of your lovely pictures I can't wait to go there!

June 24th, 2010
I agree, the fog makes this a wonderful photo. Very fitting for the shot. Love it.
June 24th, 2010
This is STUNNING. I love the bright colors of the buildings and the boats in contrast to the fog. I had to make this a favorite!
June 24th, 2010

June 24th, 2010
This is a wonderful shot Louise! I love the foggy colors on the houses and the seagull on the roof! I also think the little boats are very interesting . Hope the heat returns for you :o)
June 24th, 2010
This is a great photo...your town looks really beautiful. I hope one day I get to visit! At least if I never make it there, I can experience it through your lovely photos! Thank you for sharing!
June 24th, 2010
This is gorgeous! I love it, it's so serene. We all know we need some serenity in our lives, especially in this day in age. Just looking at this image makes me feel like it's foggy outside.
June 24th, 2010
Perfection. Pure, clear perfection.
June 24th, 2010
So much about this is wonderful...I love the way the fog and the buildings are a bit misty, but the boats are nice and sharp. I love all the colors of the boats and the seagull in the water(and the flying bird)...really beautiful! Seems like I could almost hear the seagulls cry and the lapping of the water on the shore.
June 24th, 2010
I love this one!!!!! I like all your vacation pics, but this one is so far my fav!!!! All it needs is an Orca dorsal fin :-) (my own personal wish lol)
June 24th, 2010
HC
This looks so quaint and peaceful! Like the quintessential coastal town!
June 24th, 2010
There is something so solemn and peaceful about fog on the water. Nice photo.
June 24th, 2010
I love this! A favorite.
June 24th, 2010
very beautiful and dreamy...and I like the color of the houses and the boats on the foreground made the picture more beautiful...this morning I also found the weather a bit cooler with quite heavy fog from the rain early morning...
June 24th, 2010
That is gorgeous!
June 24th, 2010
That looks so peaceful. I feel like I can hear the foghorn and hear the gulls...
June 24th, 2010
I'm glad that you did your "polar opposite" photo. It's funny how the weather can change over night!
June 24th, 2010
i agree with holly, i can just hear the sounds, and feel the wet, and smell the smells. great shot.
thank you for all your kind comments! i used to paint in watercolor, but stopped when i started tattooing ( tattooing take all my creative juices on a daily basis). plan to get back to it when i'm in my 70's though.

June 24th, 2010
You entertain, educate and give us dessert for the eyes, Louise. Thanks!
June 24th, 2010
How cool Louise! I love how the buildings are in the fog but the boats are so crisp and bright.
June 24th, 2010
This is an absolutely beautiful scene.
June 24th, 2010
I never dreamed I'd get so many nice comments, and all before the end of the evening! Thank you so much! That really made my day!
June 24th, 2010
Just gorgeous. Love the little boathouses they are so picturesque.
June 24th, 2010
This is beautiful Louise...it looks so peaceful and serene. And well...it looks so much cooler there than it is here, I'm jealous! I think I may be melting in Texas..... :)
June 24th, 2010
beautiful.....peaceful too
June 24th, 2010
Thank you for your thoughtful comments tonight and commenting on my previous fountain picture. I appreciate how welcoming you are on this site. I don't know how you manage to comment on so many photos and have time for anything else in your day. Since I'm not working much right now, I've spent many hours each day and evening looking at everyone's photos. It takes time! You are very kind.
June 24th, 2010
What a lovely scene!
June 24th, 2010
Those flowers (roses?) over on your shutterfly blog are freakin' awesome Louise. So, so pretty. I'm a real girly girl when it comes to pink and flowers.
June 24th, 2010

June 24th, 2010
This is such a beautiful photo, I would love to wake up to a cold foggy morning, we are at 85 to 95 degree weather now. It looks so calm and peaceful, too. I like that.
June 24th, 2010
I just love this photo!
How mysterious it all looks - I can imagine why so many films are set here - just wonderful!
June 24th, 2010
Oh it looks like fall already. But beside that it's a very good picture.
How great that your son-in-law is calling you Mamarazzi. We really had a giggle when my husband came up with this Barbarazzi name.
June 24th, 2010
beautiful serene shot.. love this..
June 24th, 2010
Lovely peaceful scene. Really appeals to my coastal soul.
June 24th, 2010
I really feel like I'm there Louise. You really captured this beautiful morning scene! I took it all in...every last detail. Wondered about that sagging dock, which end was the front on that yellow boat, what kind of bird that is soaring in the top left, etc. Thanks for the mental vacation, my mind needed that today.
June 24th, 2010
Lovely feel to this with its muted colours. It almost has a sense of abandonment. lots of atmostphere to this.
June 24th, 2010
That is a glorious shot. I want to move to Nova Scotia!
June 24th, 2010
It has great colour and atmosphere.

June 24th, 2010

June 24th, 2010
Louise..this is such a great photo on so many levels. Love the colors, the fog, everything about it! a fav
June 24th, 2010
Love this and the fog too.
June 24th, 2010
Gosh, I hate when I am late to the comments...I want to read everyone elses comments but there just isn't time so forgive me if I repeat what you have already heard...this is stunning, Louise. I hope it is one you frame b/c everything about it is wonderful ;-)
June 24th, 2010
Re: comment--it was an inlaid art piece beneath the water. There were several turtles, all bright colours (and I'm like a little crow when it comes to colours--haha). It was quite dark inside the aquarium, so I was surprised the photo turned out okay.
June 24th, 2010
This is a beautiful shot! I love the colors on the different boats.
June 24th, 2010
n
Beautiful shot, it almost gives off an eerie feel. I love the fog in the photo. :)
June 24th, 2010
absolutely gorgeous your best one yet
June 24th, 2010
Ooo, I love this, really soft and subtle and the boat colours work so well, especially the yellow one! And now I've made my keyboard all sticky, typing whilst eating an apple doesn't work so well!!
June 24th, 2010
love this, what a great shot!!
June 24th, 2010
What a lovely, peaceful shot. Yes, I agree with you - give me any weather. It's better than none at all...
June 24th, 2010
what an incredible scene & you've taken a beautiful shot of it! great work :)
June 24th, 2010
Everybody has said it all and I agree with them! lol You have so many friends here Louise. Don't know how you manage to keep up with it all. I find it hard to keep up with my small group, then an individual has a crisis of some kind and they enter your 'real' world in your thoughts. Ray's mother, Steve H's cat and Ira's cat....it's an emotional place this 365!! What did we do before we joined?? :-)
June 24th, 2010
lovely shot!
June 24th, 2010
Yes, Louise, you took my breath away on this one. I love Nova Scotia so much and would do like you and move there part time if I had the money. This picture is just so fantastic! You need to frame this one! I had to fav it! Now I just had a thought. Our friends in Kentville are making a bedroom and bath in their basement....not a bad idea! They are the ones we were with for 9 months running so we know each others nasty habits already...........
June 24th, 2010
Very pretty picture - we get flip / flop weather like that within the same day here in Wisconsin, especially this time of year. :)
June 24th, 2010
Love this kind of shot. Try to get the same type of shot when I am on the New England shoreline.
June 24th, 2010
I love the fog. It makes everything look mysterious.
June 24th, 2010
this is one of the most beautiful pictures I have seen, love to be able to see this place in real life its a fav.
June 24th, 2010
this is extremely beautiful and I think, truly refreshing! i always love foggy mornings!
June 24th, 2010
I hadn't thought of that, Luster, but it was "refreshing" indeed, given the warmth of the day before (and I've got the pictures to prove it!)
June 24th, 2010
This is so beautiful and the fog gives it a dreamlike quality ... I never see fog in either of my homes! Love the content AND composition, as well! Thanks for sharing!
June 24th, 2010
What a great picture again. Love the misty grey and the colours of the boots.
June 24th, 2010
Oh my gosh! I had no idea you meant that the beauty of the passion fruit flower literally lasted ONE day! I went back today and it was shriveled up. WOW. I am amazed!
June 24th, 2010

June 25th, 2010
Hi Louise! Thanks for the corn advice. The sad thing is we did have two very nice rows of corn growing!! Those two are all that are left! Pesky bugger!! We are on a mission now to win this battle! :)
June 25th, 2010
Oh goodness, this is so beautiful!! This looks exactly like the places I love to visit. A quaint little town with the fog rolling in, and very peaceful.

Wow, this is gorgeous. Wonderful composition and the soft colors are perfect. Thank you Louise.
June 25th, 2010
By the way, thanks for commenting on my daughter's Top Ramen cup, and your daughter's comment on it too. Both comments made her feel really good (:
June 25th, 2010
What a lovely photo! So subdued and beautiful!
June 25th, 2010
I just read your sweet note on my "don't feel like it" photo, and thanks so much! I feel the same about you! If I've done nothing else here this year, I have met some incredible people and made friends...even when people on here bicker, we are still a community. And that just rocks.
June 25th, 2010
Louise this is a perfect foggy photo. I had to laugh I think you are a good friend to many on 365 I had to just keep scrolling and scrolling to get to where I could comment. The picture is on the way to Canada !
June 25th, 2010
*fav* This is beautiful Louise. I love your morning walks and the treasures you find and share with us. I love to take long walks in the morning too, and my pup never gets tired of it either. Tomorrow I'll be walking around some downtown streets and hope to get some fun shots there! Hope you are doing well!!
June 25th, 2010
Great shot of the boats!
June 25th, 2010
I went to bed last night thinking I was caught up with all my friends and somehow I missed this beautiful landscape. What a masterpieces. And the soft fog looks especially lovely to me after so many days of harsh sunshine. Thank you for sharing your beautiful summer home.
June 25th, 2010
Even gorgeous on a foggy day! The boats look fun!
June 25th, 2010
This is so beautiful. It has an almost dreamy quality to it because of the moisture in the air. Even in the haze - or perhaps because of it - all those bright colors pop. Love it! Another fav for me.
June 25th, 2010
Wow, i just love foggy days like this. we've had a very foggy afternoon/evening and it's the kind of weather where you just wanna curl up under the covers with a movie or a good book. there's a lovely softness and peacefulness to this pic. lovely !
June 25th, 2010

Love the mist in this. Makes it very surreal looking.
July 20th, 2010
Wow this is so pretty. It looks so peaceful. I love how the normally bright colors are muted by the fog.
August 20th, 2010
Gorgeous. i love Blue Rock, i have several shot of that area from when we were up there. Could I ask you how much it cost to get a 30x30 photo put on canvas and where you got it done?
July 24th, 2012
@sailingmusic ...wow...scrolling down through all the comments...that doesn't happen anymore! How wonderful that you know this beautiful little corner of Nova Scotia! The canvas, on stretcher bars, is 20x30 and cost me $169 from Shutterfly. I was very happy with the finished product. I had another canvas printed of a day at Butchart Gardens that I have hanging in my living room... I couldn't be happier than shopping with Shutterfly. Happy to share the information!
July 24th, 2012
Louise, I had to check this one out. Just beautiful.
