The Tall Ships arrived at 11 this morning! What a thrill to see them rounding the point out at the lighthouse, to hear the canon blasts announcing their arrival, and to imagine standing on this spot in the early 1800s seeing that view! Lunenburg is hosting Amistad, Lynx. Roseway, The Pride of Baltimore, Providence and The Unicorn (with an all-female crew). Under cloudy skies, the ships sailed in, and as the third in line got closer, the skies opened up with a sudden squall! The diehards (including me) stayed and weathered the storm, hoping for those exceptional photos. Of my 329 pictures, a couple dozen were rain spattered or were taken before I discovered the lens had fogged up. Do the math and see that I was delighted with the rest! Tomorrow will begin with events that include ship tours, visiting dignitaries, music and lectures. This is turning out to be one of the most exceptional summers we've spent here in the past 12 years!
