Given all the AMAZiNG bird photography on 365, I can only say that Jack is today's photo-subject because... I chose not to share a photo of another-group-of-my-friends-you-don't-know (though I love it) and that was all I had when I discovered my purse with wallet, camera batteries & camera cards (and asst other items) had gone missing. It's a longer story than that, but I tried not to let it ruin my day with friends & Ken made the rounds with me to replace the items...except the wallet stuff...
I decided to take this photo as Jack is "well over 13 years old" (I caught him in my back yard) and someday I'll lose him, too, but I'll always have a photo memory...
Isn't he just gorgeous! And I love it when birdies get all flufflied up for sleep... I remember when Little Miss Stevie would snuggle into my hand on her back and go to sleep (yeah, into my hand!) while I watched television... sometimes it was so cold, I'd hold her against my cheek just to keep her nice and warm. :D
@mozette What a sweet note and a lovely memory, Lynda! Little Miss Stevie was an amazing pet...so intertwined with your photography and your life, we followed both of you together! I never tried to hold Jack except to clip his nails, but I know he's comfortable around me, and "we talk"... Thanks for sharing your memories of her. (Please tell your mom I said Hi...)
@aglennc Yes, I saw him in our yard and caught him under a laundry basket! That was over 13 years ago, and I don't know how old he was at the time! He sings...he's a sweet pet!
@Weezilou I still have tough times without her around... but it's a lot easier than it was last year. And Christmas was really hard - to put up the decorations without Her Royal Fluffiness around :P But her photo still sits proudly on the piano and I'm going to put her cage away in one of the wardrobes this week... I don't wish to throw it out as I do wish to have another fluffy friend in my house in the next few years when I can afford my own vet bills and to care for a bird better :D
And it's true that once a bird - or any animal - has your complete trust, they realise you're just out to be trusted by them too. :)
You caught this little guy in your backyard?? That's an amazing story. Jack is such a fluffy yellow cutie! I'm so sorry about your missing purse, Louise. It's bad enough that your wallet was in it, but your camera too?! Oh no!! :(
My goodness, 13 seems to be a very ripe old age for a bird, so your loving care must have given him a lot to live for Louise. And sorry about the missing purse, wow, what a bummer.
@peggysirk No no! I had my camera on my shoulder (which is why I overlooked picking up the bag!...and I was chatting with the girls and saying my good-byes...) It was an air-headed moment that might have taught me a lesson...

Angels live amongst us! Just now two ladies came to the door and they had my bag...even drove down from Inglewood! Their names are Laura & Maria Theresa...share with me in saying, "God Bless Them"! (He knows who they are!) That was amazing!
