I hope everyone had a good July 4th and Americans had a nice 4th of July! Having a day to spend alone, we helped a friend by driving his dog to the vet on our way to the best shopping area around here near Halifax. We usually save that trek for when we go to the airport (but we're usually a bit rushed), so today we spent a leisurely 5 hours walking through stores and shopping for the kids eventual arrival (very late Sunday night...we'll see them Monday!)
Back home this evening, I didn't like any of my day's photos, so we went for a walk before picking an armload of flowers from our friend, Billy's yard. (He suggested we get all we want before the rain and/or wind beats them down...) "Last color on the clouds"..."rising moon"...and then I spotted this... If I try just a little, there's so much to see in this corner of the world!
Have a good weekend! If it storms tomorrow (and we don't lose electricity...which is known to happen on a whim...I can spend the day catching up on all the pictures I'd enjoy seeing!)
...***...UPDATE noon SATURDAY...***...haha...at 6ish Ken said to me, "The electricity went out"... We had a smattering of rain, but A LOT of gusting wind! No coffee...no computer...so I stepped outside & took photos & video... Electricity back on at 10... we're in the eye of the storm at the moment...more to come & then gone...without further incident, I hope." :)
12:05...Transformer blew and we were without power *again* for another two hours... Well, "this is an Experience"...
What a great find! Wonderful reflects Louise. Sounds like you've had a long day but a fun one. Look forward to hearing and seeing how you come through the storm.
"Quaint" That's the word this image makes me think of. What a find, spotting the church's reflection in the glass. The b&w presentation works so well too.
Wishing you safety and sustained electricity... It'll be good to know you've come through unscathed.
@lyndemc Give it up regarding the "sustained electricity"!...updated again! We've just decided to go for a 10-min drive to the area called "Blue Rocks" where the surf should look amazing...windy, but not raining yet.. I see all this as a change from "earthquakes" ;).
The joys of the unpredictable summer, but it is still a good life. Lovely shot of the window and reflection. Have a wonderful weekend you two and I know you are all eager for the kids. Enjoy!
GREAT framing. Fantastic Louise. I read an article last month about "sense of place". It was given to me as a "get pushed" challenge. I think I learned something from it, but also realized that "Get pushed" wasn't for me. :) At any rate, you have captured sense of place here VERY well. Amazing.
I love this picture, especially in B&W.....the reflections are exquisite....there is so much going on in a single frame! Those power outages are sure creating an interesting experience! I think they are fun for a while, but we are so dependent on all our electronic gadgets that we don't know what to do without our virtual connection to the outside world! Enjoy it for what it's worth!
Wishing you safety and sustained electricity... It'll be good to know you've come through unscathed.
