Diva by Weezilou

Diva

This is Cynthia Myers who was directing the play yesterday http://365project.org/Weezilou/so-many-choices/2014-08-02 and invited us to come to the show and "picnic" out in Kingsburg this afternoon. What I envisioned was not at all what evolved! Ken and I brought folding chairs and an assortment of cheeses, crackers and wine (for ourselves). As this was Cynthia's first gig out there, what we didn't know is that people in the area bring a pot-luck dish, and the couple (who own a real-estate company with this fabulous barn/venue on their property) hire musicians to provide music over 3 hours while everyone barbecues and mingles! Basically, I felt as though Cynthia had invited us to a private party (!) though we knew some of the people there and it seems to be a regular "occasion"! Ken struck up a conversation with a man from Houston who has a summer home nearby, and in due course, Ken and Ned discovered they were both EE (engineering) majors from WU in St Louis. His wife was a music major and I was an art major. So now we know more people from a new area & they'd like to get together soon!

Did I say you never know what's going to happen when you open your front door? I have some personal friends who follow my 365 photos, and I tell them "it's different up here"! Many have visited us, so they *know*!
Very cool shot

@kerristephens @golftragic @hbdaly I've never heard Cynthia sing anything but swing and bluesy songs...30s-40s era. She was accompanied by bass, sax and drum set/guitar this afternoon and they were all just great! (She almost always wears red, so it was difficult to bring it down to vintage coloration!)

What a neat experience, sounds like a wonderful time. So cool that you met people who have similar history, it's always such a small world. Great picture too, it does have a vintage look and feel.

This image has me feeling like I'm looking back in time — it's got a nostalgic feel to it. Well done with the processing, Louise. Of course you had to start with a great pic, which you did.

Thanks for the compliment shared on my Katydid pic. That was a fun one, from beginning to, well, now!

You know what they say - a stranger is just a friend that you have not met yet! Though part way through the story I was getting worried as to what kind of party it might have been !
