We moved a lot during my childhood, so I only mention where I lived when it relates to the conversation of another. Osia and I have chatted a lot, (and while her husband and I discovered we'd attended the same H.S. in Tucson) she said she didn't know I'd lived in Hawaii.
As it's been raining today, and at most, I want to go out and photograph some flowers, I thought I'd throw in a couple of old photos I'd scanned into my files. Last year , when I was on Kauai and back in Honolulu, I made a book that paired some of my old photos with new ones taken in the same locations. I love coming here with our daughter and grandsons and sharing some of my happy childhood days.
@lightzen Thanks! It's the best way to pass them along to the next generations! Already it was fun sharing my postings with my 4-y-o grandson who was a bit puzzled about the concept!
@thirdjoe Thanks, Joe! Truly, I surprise myself as to how much I remember of living here. When we arrived back for the first time in the mid-70s, I followed my nose to the three homes we lived in. This really was a place that resonated with me! (I think the back stories others have shared were all interesting, so here in my little lot...)
@salza Thanks Sally... I laughed when, late in the day Ken brought up this photo on his computer and called Ashton over. "Who do you think this is Ashton?" He leaned in, and said offhandedly, "That's Grandma..." Ken looked at me quizzically and I told him how we'd talked about it earlier. Thinking he could still trick Ashton, he brought up my grandmother's photo, and Ashton informed him about that as well. Yea! The lesson seems to have stuck!
How fabulous to be able to revisit childhood haunts and find they are still the same. I avoid revisiting mine as I know they will be very very different.
@panthora (chuckling :) You're just the dearest cheering squad!
I took the crystal ball to the pool this afternoon, but got caught in a brief downpour (the rain actually felt cold!) so no opportunity... I then took it out on the lanai where the cardinals here are bold as brass and I nearly had one eating out of my hand! I set up to get some photos through the ball of him eating, but did he return? Of course not... *sigh* Tomorrow is another day!
