You Haven't Lived Until You've Received a Tiny Blessing from Above ...
When I discovered that sitting directly below the feeder was a bad idea, I moved a few feet away and (now that he had my attention) I took photo after photo as he posed for me!
We have at least 3-4 hummers in the yard now, flying and swooping constantly. You wouldn't believe how fast they go through the sugar water!
I'll bet you have to fill your feeder every couple days! Instant Fav! This is so clear and detailed. My hummers move at warp speed making them almost impossible to capture so bravo for such a great shot!
Wow Louise love your pov and sharp focus on this little guy, they are so hard to capture. I think it is time to put my feeder out as well!
Beautiful capture!
@redy4et Boy you got that right, Elizabeth! Initially I'd empy and refill fresh every 4 days...we have 2 feeders. They seem to have a favorite as 1C is gone...empty!...in 2 days! That alone should teach me not to sit under the feeder!!!
@joansmor Great Good Luck with your feeder! I take your compliment as an especially lovely one since I ofter say the same about an especially good photo that I like. I seem to have a good rapport with these little birds now...no fear, and I can sit close by for my photos.
Wow . This is above beautiful . Fav.
This is what we call : een geluk bij een ongeluk. ( +/- a blessing in disguise) as now you are able, and have plenty off time, to sit there and take this wonderful pic.`s
@pyrrhula Hi Ferry! I'm sitting at the open back door and takin g delight in the many many birds and two squirrels that are coming by! Before I was up, Ken took a picture of "our two ducks" that seemed delighted to see the pool, at last!, being filled again as they christened it woth a morning swim! I'll write you more and send photos, but the task is complete, and I love looking out into the yard!
een geluk bij een ongeluk, indeed! For too long I thought it might be nice to just sit still with time to appreciate all this. Now I am! ♥
@chard Some see the glass half empty...some, half-full. Me, I recognize a blessing when it's received...in this case, a direct connection to this wee bird. I think I won't commune with a cow, however!
@rosiekerr Notice that most of mine are sitting still! Those who capture beautiful in-flight photos have my highest regard as well! Best to you as you wait to capture yours!
@Weezilou Thanks for you nice replay. I`m told that swimming in water with ducks is not advised. Ina always tells me I can `t sit and be motionless for a 5 min. So for me it will be a punishment.
@pyrrhula You are most likely correct about "swimming with ducks"! Here, we always keep the pool chemicals balanced so as to avoid bacteria and algae...and, anymore, no one really swims in the pool very much! Our kids use the spa most of the time.
You KNOW I'm like you in that I don't like being still very long! Just walking with a walker from one room to another takes 5 times as long and just typically getting there! I hate that! What a waste of good time! Still (blessing in disguise), I am enjoying the view from where I sit and only wish I could walk around and take more photos! However.....
What an amazingly AWESOME capture of this beauty!!!! I live in Georgia and we have always called these "Anna" hummingbirds. There are also the Ruby Throat that look very much the same but I think it's just the male version of the Anna!! I would love to get these details!!! I certainly would frame this shot!!
Do you make your own juice for the hummers? I do and use no food coloring!! My ONE feeder, (I have to get 2 more) holds 3 cups of juice and I am now filling it twice a day!!! There are certain times during the day and mid evening that they have a feeding frenzy and it is so wonderful to stand within them and watch and listen!!! I have had them sit on my head, hover directly in front of my face and talk to me and of course the one that pooped on my head while sitting there!! How rude!!!
When they are nearly out of juice and I go out to get the feeder, they just give me what for!!! I have to hurry and bring it back!! I make the juice up early so I can hurry!!
HUGE FAV by the way!!
I am so glad that you are doing some better and OF COURSE it does good to complain!! It makes you feel better!!! Of course the only one I whine to is John and Bless his Heart, he listens until it gets too much to handle and then tells me to stop!! By then I'm all whined out and say "OK, I feel better now" LOL Everyone deserves a "Pity Party" every now and again and you are certainly entitled!! Will continue to say prayers that you will continue to get better every day and can be out and closer to commune with the cows!!! Big Hugs!!
They say that a bird pooping on you is a good omen, so count that among your many blessings!! Seriously, you know I hate to sit still, too, but sometimes these times of forced inaction can be very useful in observing our inner and outer environment! So glad that the backyard is almost complete as well, so that you can finally sit back and enjoy it being filled with life from your animal companions.
And, this is a wonderful capture, and an absolute FAV!! Oh, and being outside the line of fire is always a good idea! ;-))
@panthora But if I were outside the line the line of fire, how would I get my "good omen"? Of course now that I have it, I'll take a pass on getting any more for awhile! xo, darlin'
@ceilidh Thanks, Margaret! I see we're on line at the same moment :) Yesterday, Ken hung that feeder in the open doorway, just feet from where I'm sitting. Thought I half expected it, I was stunned she the wee thing darted indoors, made a sharp turn into the kitchen, came right to my face, pausing in front of me, and back out the door!!! I wonder if she was a startled as I was! What a moment!
Beautiful capture!

No use complaining! ;) Thanks, Ferry!
