I thought I'd posted a photo of our back yard as we began what turned into a 4-month project. 40 years ago, as new home owners, we had a pool put in for our children. http://365project.org/Weezilou/so-many-choices/2015-02-04 In all that time, "a few upgrades" became necessary, but, at the outset we hadn't expected to do all this! Now, completed, we're delighted with the changes that were made. There was a little "jumping for joy!" as the family and grand-kids came to express their delight in what had been done!
Perfect christening and a perfect summer kickoff! Love, love your beautifully renovated pool and patio area! I know your littlest water bugs love it too!
@peggysirk Oh Peggy, thank you! It seemed "unseemly" to just send out a photo and say, hey, look at this!, but it will come together in the next couple weeks as we're now enjoying it daily! You know well how much fun it was to have "the family" come down Wednesday night and make a day of it out there for the first time on the 11th! Even my S-I-L, John came to me and thanked us for making all the changes...said he knew we'd done it for the kiddos, but that he and Ash certainly were enjoying it as well. Such a nice moment!
Not unseemly in the least, Louise!! It's a source of absolute joy and fun for your family and friends (human and non-human)...not to mention the source of some super fabulous photos! Here's to summer, fun and family!
Oh what fun....... Great christening action capture. Beautiful tile on your pool! Looks like there are going to be lots of good times in your "new" back yard. Will your kids use it while you're in NS this summer?
@allie912 Thanks so much Allie! Interesting, isn't it, how, having spent 4 years together, we have seen one another's projects start to finish and then some! I'm sure you're still enjoying your "new" kitchen!
@redy4et@kwind Thank you both! This day was worth waiting for! Kim, I think it was within this past year that we watched you making changes in your home, if I recall correctly! And Elizabeth, in your profession, I have no doubt you've had the ability to make wonderful changes now and then! @aglennc and Anita, while all our family is coming to Canada in July, the clan pictured here will come down several times in our absence, to be sure!
@lsanderson55@lisamccloskey@creativeaddict As parents & grand parents, it's given us so much pleasure so see our family grow and continue to gather in this yard through the years. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and comments!
Fabulous action capture! It must be wonderful to see your children still enjoying the garden they grew up in! Plus seeing their children taking joy in it with them.
@salza Thank you so much, Sally; it's true. My Dad's business gave me the opportunity to travel and move a number of times, so it's be a different sort of life to live somewhere for such a long time...quite a pleasure. They love coming here and now I have a chance to be the grandmother whom *I* loved visiting in my own childhood!
@pyrrhula HAHA! Don't tell my secret, but I found I could do multiple shots at once, which is how I could get the best photo out of it! In my mind, I have to do whatever works! Thanks for the fave! (It's hard to keep Ashton out of the pool, he loves to swim so much! We promised him he could swim tonight after dark if he took a nap, and he did it! Maybe I can get a good night photo! ♥ )
brownie points for being awesome grandparents!! I mean come on, who doesn't love a pool???!! My inlaws put a pool into their home 3 years ago in the hopes that it would be the family hub - everyone would congregate there in summer with their children and my inlaws would be in heaven. I have to say, their plan has definitely worked ;)
@colorfade ...then you certainly can understand this family component! Long story...we'd never intended to redo the yard (that already had a pool), but...it happened. And we're loving the outcome! And bless my S-I-L John who came in to say to me that, while he knew we'd done this for the grandkids, he wanted me to know how much he and Ashley loved and appreciated it as well. (Are we lucky, or what, to have had Ashley choose so well a son for us?!) I do wish the rest of the family in Chicago weren't so far away, but we'll have everyone with us in July!
@Weezilou thumbs up to John. That really is soooo lovely! So many families are spread out all over the place these days that Im sure you feel really lucky to have your daughter close by. Its only been since Ive become a mother than I can appreciate how difficult it must be have your kids grow up and move far away.
Wonderful christening capture of the completed pool. Such joy in this shot too. Looks like it will be enjoyed for many years to come with much memories with family and friends.
They make a great use of you beautiful pool.
