(I found some time for myself in the middle of the night! I've hardly been able to look through my photos, so I'm counting on the family getting their own breakfast in the morning!)
On an Overloaded-Busy Saturday, this 9:30 arrival of tall-ship L'Hermione wasn't even the first event of our day! The grandkids were taking a painting class and taking part in the annual Paint Sea on SIte. We joined the crowds on the piers to see this spectacular ship accompanied by Bluenose II and nearly every boat from the vicinity! The boat's horns all blew in welcome, people clapped, dogs barked and the Tall Ship fired a cannon! Across the way is the Bluenose Golf Course that creates the other side of the harbour. There was a time when ships like these stopped in Lunenburg. Once again, it was quite a spectacle!
Wow, beautiful ship, and wonderful capture!! FAV!! It's a good thing we are night owls, because the middle of the night seems like the only time we have for ourselves!! Just keep posting your beautiful photos whenever you can....we will all still be here when you come up for air! ;-))
Awesome! It's so exciting to see ships like this return to the very harbours where they once visited. A few years ago, there was a reenactment of a battle in our harbour - many cannons were fired, there was much smoke and noise - all while the ships crept along the shoreline. Amazing that so many wars were fought so slowly! It was fun to watch and photograph.
@chard ...spoken as the Land Lubber that you are!
Kitty update...the brown striped one was meowing into the kitchen window this morning, so the boys brought her in and fed her even before I was up! Fred's out and about...we've seen him...but he's yet to visit, Wanted you to know we have a friend here at least!
A fav capture of this beautiful ship. ( Has a great history with the history of the U.S.A. )
As I live in a country with several big ports I can 3 times every 4 years visit a tall ship sail event if I like.
Fantastic ship and it sounds like it had a great welcome. It's early morning here, hubby sound asleep beside me so I'm trying to catch up. We all need some time to ourselves
A spectacular tall ship!! Love the way you've caught it with the reflection and up close. We had a tall ship in our harbor -- very unusual event. They are such impressive things.
Such a fantastic close up of this tall ship. It's fansinating to see these ships and hear the history of there existence. We were able to see a couple in Victoria as well. A fav for sure!
