Setting aside dinner preparations, we went to the waterfront to photograph the moonrise at 7:55... Never mind that a cloud bank kept it at bay until 8:45, my battery died just as it peeked over the clouds and it turned out not to be the "Blue Moon Night" after all...only 99.5% full! The pictures were "good enough", but I asked for a quick tour through town to see if I might find it juxtaposed in a good location...and this was it! St John's church is perhaps the town's favourite, the 2nd oldest church in Canada. I never tire of photographing it or listening to the bells being played in the afternoon.
This is beautiful, and so well worth waiting for!! So, did you have a spare battery for the "after the moonrise" tour?! I love finding a nice setting through which to photograph the full moon, and like you, I also rely on luck, even though there are apps for it, and I have seen people at the meetups use them!! FAV!
This is just beautiful and what a beautiful church with the stained glass windows and the steeples. The moon coming up and giving a blue glow to the sky!! Gorgeous capture!! FAV!
@panthora@cashew@aponi@gilbertwood@dailypix Wow! Thank you all! What a thrill to see this so appreciated as this site is so locally popular! The clip is now uploaded, and I hope you'll enjoy having this church come to life with music!
blue enough! I see why this is iconic place. so Northern looking. There's something about this shot that makes me think of a two-0dimensional paper cut-out as well.
@eyesmile Thank you Gena! I'm looking forward to a month when I can spend more time looking through your photos as well!
@francoise Thanks, Francoise! Good that it's "blue enough" as my shots on the 31st we're a bust!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! It was "a last ditch effort", so I'm accepting it as a bit of a Gift!
@365projectlinda Thanks Lindy! I see you're in one of our favorite Canadian sites from a long-ago visit! I'm delighted I can share this with you; perhaps you've visited here?
@kwind Thanks, Kim! Perhaps it was you who brought LIndy to this site? Lovely to meet another from your beautiful part of the country!
@lifepause Thanks, Jae...that response was certainly good enough!
@lisamccloskey Thank you, Lisa! It would be difficult to make that church look anything but wonderful!
@jack4john "Heavenly" sums up the mood of the evening! Thanks for that!
@kelly2 I take no offense at all that the church takes centre stage here! All of this town and moany across Canada love this building!
@bkbinthecity Thanks for the fave! If you've never been to the Maritimes, this is a "must see" church!
@joysfocus Thanks Joy & Good morning! No doubt you have a wonderful day planned...so many good choices! We're having a picture-perfect day, but I'm getting some "rest" in the hope of going to a "kitchen party" tonight (up here' that means lots of music...not a Tupperware party!)
@Weezilou I thought for sure you meant Tupperware Party! Or all the latest gadgets for the kitchen party. I'd rather attend the music party! Joe and I went to see the latest Mission Impossible movie on Friday. I really enjoyed it. Lots of action! Today we are helping my son pack up a u-haul because he's moving to Fresno to be with his girlfriend. I no longer have a "failure-to-launch" man/child. I know you'd understand if you've seen the movie.
@joysfocus You may have already found this http://365project.org/Weezilou/365/2015-08-01 ... the joint was rockin! It may lack all the cosmopolitan trappings of an upscale venue. but the music is great and about as "up-close-and-personal" as it gets! The banter moves around the room between performers and audience (scattered at about 10 bridge tables!) Doesn't get more "down home" than this! And I LOVE it! (more in an email later!)
@pyrrhula I never remember exactly which steps I use, but I think I did make the image very sharp and then used one of the "glow" techniques. I'm always surprised at what comes together, but I have no set technique. Thanks, Ferry! I lovely your choice of words, "beautifully strange"! That says it perfectly!
Awesome video really brings it too life to see and hear the music and sounds. So neat too see the lady playing the bells. Very cool! I'm so glad you shared this too.
@dailypix Thanks so much Susan for taking the time to have a look. I always hope that when I post something it doesn't disappoint. I'm glad it was you I could share this with!
