An Alice-in-Wonderland moment as seen from my kitchen window. Birds...we have LOTS! Colour variety...not so much. Seizing Flamingo Friday with our own @stray_shooter, Ron, to fancy up the back yard.
The odd framing is, well, the frame of the pane and a framed print leaning against the window. I could have gone for something "prettier" to post, but let's do this for the fun of it... (and I DID have fun!)
Actually, NONE of the birds belong here as that was food I set out for the squirrel... ...but try to tell THEM that!
Wow ! Great entertainment Louise ! I see where the redpoles are hanging around this winter, I haven't seen any at all, we usually have close to a hundred of them in the winter. Good for them warmer where they are. Hope all is well Louise, happy new year !
Oh yeah, Flamingo Friday can't be stopped! Great editing on this shot, Louise. All the work that this required tells me that the shoulder is better. ;-) Thanks for contributing the Flamingo Friday!
What a great collection of birds Louise!! I read above that the ones with red are redpolls so that has answered my question. Lovely view from your window. I love the flamingo - a wonderful fun additionl!! LOL!! Fav!
who knew that peanuts are the way to a birds heart?!! Im going to need to leave some out on my balcony to see if Aussie birds are as nuts for the nuts. Such an amusing photo Louise!
I think they're on to your existence. Is this an old California tradition? (Flamingo Friday?) What's funny to me is that the usual complaint is that the d--- squirrels are getting into the bird food rather than the other way around.
Oh my gosh! So surreal! I love it! Flamingo reminds me of when King Kong was peering through the window. Creepy. Amazing how creative you can get after grits and a glass of wine. Fav!
@jamibann I leave out several "platters of food"...it's nothing to have a couple dozen in one spot at a time. As I said, "plentiful" but nothing "spectacular" in the way of colouration! (I had no need to photoshop more than *one* here ; )
@francoise "Flamingo-Friday" was started in our SoCal clique by Ron Cushing @stray_shooter. Some of us got on board with it, and it's rather delightful to punctuate my Fridays with them when there's little else for inspiration! You're welcome to join in, y'know!
@golftragic My grandfather, a surgeon, was called Dr Dolittle by his friends. He even called his "camp", Puddleby on the Swamp. Do you suppose I come by all this somehow, naturally? haha!
@Weezilou Definitely! I do believe that some people are born with what I call 'the magic touch' with animals and are able to communicate with them better than the rest of us. I know a couple of women round here who have that gift. One of them is a fully qualified vet who practises as an animal Chinese healing naturopath and acupuncturist. She did wonders with my poor old Sheba's arthritis and other ailments. I might say monthly cartrofen shots at the vet's help too, of course. Dr Dolittle was one of my favourite books when I was young - back in the last Ice Age.
@golftragic Oh, cool, I grew up in that same Ice Age! And as I read your note, I'm thinking, "Puddleby on the Marsh" ...not "swamp"... Must get that book out to read to the grandsons...I think they're old enough to love that, and I'd like to read it again as well! Nice to know we share that good memory!
@loey5150 Having read through your comments was like sharing a scrapbook with you! And what fun to go back through some of my earlier photos! Thank you for taking the time...we both still love kitties, it's plain to see! ...here, it's after midnight and I need to get some rest, but what a nice way to bring the day to a close! Thanks m'friend! It's nice to have you back!
