(Gif) Hummies Don't Disappoint!

(I can't see the bird flying unless it's on black... I have NO IDEA why! If you can see it ok without going to black, would you let me know? )

We're up the coast visiting the grandkids while their folks get away for a short holiday. The day began with heavy rain, but the hummers came again and again to the feeder just outside the front window. After lots of single shots, I realized this clean backdrop was made for another gif image. Thank you for the great reception you gave Posh the other day, and I hope you'll enjoy this as much! The sun broke through at 1 and we took the boys to a birthday party at a train museum; it's been a delightful day!

I have, however, fallen far behind again...
lovely capture

@777margo Thanks Margo! I just added a note that for some reason I can's see it flying unless I click on black... I have no idea why.

I see the bird in both regular and black. He looks to be crashing into the feeder equally well in both.

Love your videos. This little guy is enjoying his meal. Raining down here today too.
March 6th, 2017
@stray_shooter All I could think was that he's drinking the rain running off the side of the feeder... I ought to have explained that, as I fully understand the confusion! haha

I also can only see the movement of the bird when on the black background ...don't know why. The pic and the gif are both beautiful!

Great capture...indeed on black he is flying :)

so cool... fav
March 6th, 2017
Well done! What is the technique you use to create these little movies? Is it a loop?
March 6th, 2017
I don't see the movement unless it's on black ... so Cool!

@allie912 http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php Alli, this is a free download site I got several years ago. I use it almost exclusively for the few times I make a gif image, and you'll see clearly what you need to open in it to do that. My images are mostly a 7-shot series, but they're best if it's conceivably what the subject might look like if it's in a loop. (Walking left to right looks awkward if it plays again and again). For people on 365 who don't have squirrels or hummingbirds, it's a nice way to share what they look like in action! Let me know if you'd like any further assistance!

@Weezilou Can't wait to try it when we get home!

Wow... fabulous video.

How cool!

He's perfectly visible. You need to tell him his sugar water is on the bottom not the top of that beautiful feeder!
March 6th, 2017
I can see both - and how wonderful it is :)
March 6th, 2017
@Weezilou I can see the still image on white and when I tap the picture to get it to move it takes it into black. Lovely video . It's great to see this clever little bird just hanging there! Such control with their wings! Good to see you are up with the boys! Have a great week! What a fun time you will be having! Fav!

I can see it on both. I always love your gif posts! Thank you for including the link for the download...you did give it to me once before and I still haven't created one. That is definitely something I MUST do! It's wonderful that you're enjoying a fun visit with your grandkids. :-)

Super GIF! I can see the bird on both backgrounds. Very cool shot!
March 6th, 2017
Very nice and clear.
March 6th, 2017
I can see it either way. Glad you explained that he was drinking water from the side of the feeder - I thought he was hitting it!
March 6th, 2017
i can see it as soon as i click on it. fantastic. almost motivates me to learn photoshop!
March 6th, 2017
@catsmeowb Good News! No need for Photoshop, Camille! Go back half-way up thecomments, and there's a link to a free (and super simple) site that lets you make these gif images! Just shoot a burst of 7 or more, and thet's all there is to it! Let me know when I can see what YOU post!

Beautiful movie of this lovely Hummingbird.
March 6th, 2017
I can see it not on black! What a fun GIF. Hope you have a great time with the grandkids x
March 6th, 2017
I can see the motion as is Louise. Thanks for the explanation, I wouldn't have known why he was attacking that object.
March 6th, 2017
Weird! I could only see it on black yesterday, but today, I can see on both colors. Anyway...lovely image and so fun you made it a gif for us to see.
March 7th, 2017
Such a tiny little thing. Great job getting enough pictures of the fast-flyer to create a gif.
March 7th, 2017
It's just a still photo on your page, but a video on black. Fun trick! LOL!
March 7th, 2017
@homeschoolmom Weird, isn't it? Among the comments, some see both and some only on black! I took it down and reposted it when I thought something was *wrong*... Guess it's just *odd*!

@pcarlaw You're REALLY boggles me! I have no idea!

This is awesome!!! I can see the flight on both regular and black, those wings move so fast
March 7th, 2017
@cjphoto Amazingly, Chris, I slowed it down a little so the way the wings move would be clear to those who've never seen them in flight! Thanks for liking it!
March 7th, 2017
It's a video! Wonderful to see.
