We headed out early this morning with a planned stop to see a friend who lives up in the foothills north of LA. I've known her for 39 years but had never been to her home. She has the most amazing view all the way to the ocean and including Catalina Island! I started taking photos early today!
We arrived at our final destination as the boys were coming home from school, and Dylan's party was held at his pre-school at 4 PM. As a mom, I was so proud of the party my daughter pulled together. Ken and I both took photos, but while I have a ridiculous number of pictures, I just needed one cute one of Dylan and the amazing cake Ashley made for him! While I took classes when my girls were small, and made all their cakes, Ashley picked it up from watching, and now far outshines anything I ever did!
What fun it was to be a party guest today! All's going great, but I'm just bone-weary tired tonight! After breakfast in the morning, Ken and I will give Dylan the presents we have for him, including my zoo book. Tonight I asked him if he remembered the good time we had at the zoo together...he did. I prompted that he asked me to take a lot of pictures, and was there a reason he wanted me to do that? He told me he wanted me to make him a book! I just trailed off (and thank heaven he gave me the right answer!!!) and he didn't suspect a thing. I hope he'll be super surprised tomorrow!
What a darling boy! I loved your story and the cake is so fun with the pirate theme...my kind of cake!!! I think I am just as excited to see what Dylan thinks of his zoo book gift!!!
Oh my gosh! What an absolutely fun cake for a handsome little guy. Louise, you two have had quite a week, and I have a feeling it's not over yet. Sounds like you're going to spend a few hours going through photos between now and when you leave for NS. We'll wait! But we want to see them Happy Birthday Dylan..
Yes, I took the cake decorating class when our kids were very small, and I made all their birthday cakes. Haven't decorated a cake since they hit their teens, I don't think. ave a feeling they would have preferred I didn't when they hit that age.
Happy birthday Dylan! Such a gorgeous boy Louise and I know he will love that zoo book you made with such love! Wow the cake looks wonderful! Ashley certainly learnt well from watching her mum! Your friends house sounds lovely with those views. You will have a mountain of photos to look at from this trip! Relax and enjoy your stay with the family!
