We spent all day today unpacking, and getting the house in order the way we like it. Ken suggested we go out for dinner, but I wanted to cook something simple, and as I was dishing up, Ken looked onto the back porch and said, "Look who's here!" My dear little "Not Fred" So shocking to see he grew much thinner over the winter months, and not everyone has been nice to him in his cat world. We're here to set things right for him again, and if you'd like to read about him as we said good-bye before leaving, this is how I hope to see him again soon: https://365project.org/Weezilou/album-excess/2016-11-03
@pamknowler isn't it still the middle of the night? When you arrive, this is the hour you'll be wanting to head to bed! ...we were SO glad to see Not Fred. Ken said he also saw Dinah today, but no sign yet of Buttercup. And I haven'[t started watching for raccoons, but with cat food out, they'll be coming around again!
@carlasmith@linnypinny Thank you both! Ken and I feel so good that he came here, and you can believe we'll be giving him the best of care while we're here! His plaintive eyes and hesitant step just tug at my heart!
Sweet "not Fred" is saying "where have you been and why were you gone for so long". He looks like he really missed you! Glad you have a furry friend there too!
@gardenfolk It pains me to see those eyes, so often on the brink of fear. He'd made great strides by the end of last fall, and we did get messages from friends who were either feeding him or reporting on his whereabouts in town. We'd loaned the house to a music school the last few months, so it's my hope they'd fed him...which would have been why he was here right on schedule for dinner!
@radiogirl He's a feral and I've never been able to touch him, but we do feed him. I've asked around and we know others look after him, too, though I think, perhaps, not as well as we do... I restocked the cupboard with cans of the good stuff for him!
@pyrrhula I love that you recognize nothing has changed much! I have to think hard to come up with different things to share for those who have seen much of what happens locally here!
