I was so busy trying to catch up with Costa Rica photos that I overlooked our stay with the East-Coast grandkids before returning to Lunenburg! We were in Massachusetts and I'd seen information on a wonderful-looking animal sanctuary in Bolton, so we spent the day there! Bodhi has on the zoo-keepers uniform we gave him for his birthday last spring. (The zoo-camp leaders made all over him!) We did a behind-the-scenes tour and got to hold-or-pet many of the animals; quite wonderful! The place doesn't look especially fancy as you arrive, but the animals are so well-cared for and everything was spotless. More than once it was suggested to Bodhi that he come back to work there when he was older!
(When our tour guide was showing us an armadillo, she said his scales were made of keratin. She asked if any of us could name an animal with a distinctive feature that's keratin. I'm thinking "rhino horn" was the obvious answer, but he chimed up with "Pangolins"! He caught all of us off guard with that answer! Google the image if you've never heard of them! I hadn't heard of them until the grandkids told me about them!)
@allie912 I was hoping you'd be by to see this and read his reply to the guide! He knows his animals well...thinking zookeeper this year, but last year he wanted to be a baker! Lots of options when you're 6 years old!
@maggiemae Like you, we enjoy seeing the zoos wherever we travel! There have been some wonderful surprises that aren't always the big-city zoos! And yes, he was dressed for the day when he heard we were going to a zoo, so he changed into this outfit!
@365karly1 Talked to my daughter this morning and she said I'd spelled it incorrectly (though I'd found them in the images...) Comes with trying to catch up in the middle of the night, I suppose! "Pangolins"
