Coal Harbour and Downtown Vancouver. Most of the buildings on this side of town are residential. The harbour itself is also home to residents -- people clearly live on some of the larger yachts, and you can even see a couple of houseboats on the left side of the photo.
The path on the right hand edge is part of the Vancouver Seawall, shared by cyclists and pedestrians. It's 13.7 miles long and runs all the way from the Convention Centre, around Stanley Park, under the Burrard, Granville and Cambie bridges, around past Granville Island and along to Kitsilano Beach.
My 10mm lens wasn't quite wide enough to capture everything I wanted, so this 2 shots stitched together (although this crop is only about 1.5 shots).
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.
If you're interested in any...
@humphreyhippo There was a pesky motorboat which went past the entrance to the harbour while I was shooting -- I had to wait about 5 minutes for the reflections to come back!
@humphreyhippo To be honest I was really just looking around taking it all in and hitting the remote shutter every now and then as the sky got darker. I spent an hour here and it felt like 10 minutes.
I still have to pinch myself to realise I'm not dreaming and I really do live here. My apartment is about 5 minutes walk from this (it's the building with the green light around the top, near the middle of the photo)
By the way, if you want another good person to follow, @nzsnapper is Antony's friend who moved to NZ. Don't know why all his friends keep emigrating... ;) http://365project.org/nzsnapper/365/
Wow, gorgeous - I so want to move there. I'm on the wrong coast! :) I started taking city shots this past week and am getting hooked. Usually into nature pics but now have a new interest.
Welcome to 365 and to Canada!! A happy coincidence to meet you here and to have taken similar pictures on the same day-- although you are in a higher league of photography than me (no wonder you are friends with one of my favourite 365'rs!) Thanks @humphreyhippo for the introduction! I will be sad to leave Vancouver but happy to follow your project and seeing your pictures.
Superb shot. Love it. I see you're quite a new member to 365. A warm welcome to you. Fav by the way. I still need to get round to do a night shot like this.
You have so much more patience than me. :)

Taken from about the same place?
