A panorama of Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park, taken last weekend.
This panorama consists of 18 photographs for the sky, taken at f/2.8, ISO 4000, and 6 photographs for the ground, taken at f/2.8, ISO 800.
The lights on the horizon are from campers, and I managed to capture a shooting star in the upper left corner of the shot. A lot of aircraft were passing over, but I was able to avoid capturing any in this panorama.
The timing for this shot was tricky, as the park gate is closed at 11, but astronomical dusk wasn't until around 9:35. Taking this series of shots took about 28 minutes, with the shutter closing on the final shot at 10:46pm, leaving me 14 minutes to run the best part of a kilometer back to the car, and drive a further 8 kilometers to the gate! Happily I made it with two minutes to spare (and yes, the ranger was parked at the gate waiting!)
Not an amazing shot -- rather a lot of skyglow -- but I like the reflections of the stars in the lake, and I've been working on it for most of the week so I figured I should post it!
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.
If you're interested in any...
Looks like the reflections came out nicely. Are you sure that's a shooting star and not a satellite? The path looks kind of curved, or is that just a result of the projection.
This looks like those nights that you get to lay below the stars when your out camping, it's exactly what you'd see! Beautiful shot, love the reflections
