Another photo from Saturday's Worldwide Photowalk in the Olympic Village in Vancouver.
I liked the design of this structure, and the uneven benches beneath it, as well as the light playing on the unusual shapes and highlighting the texture in the cobbles. For this shot, I set the tripod up on one of the benches, so it was approximately 8 feet off the ground, and positioned it so that the geodesic dome of Science World would be visible through the middle of one of the column structures.
I had to again wait quite a while to get a gap without any other Photowalkers in the shot (and particularly their tripods). Again I used an HDR bracket to capture this scene, although fortunately I was able to use shorter shutter speeds than on my previous photo, with a total of five exposures ranging from 2 seconds to 30 seconds, all at ISO 200, f/8, 16mm.
In the background on the left is the start of the main downtown skyline, with the Harbour Centre tower right on the edge of the frame, and the Rogers Arena, home to the Vancouver Canucks, visible through the left-most columns. The Science World dome, on the right, is lit up in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.
