Salter House - Former Offices of Samuel Salter & Co. of Trowbridge.
Samuel Salter was one of the influential owners of the town's woollen mills in the 1800's, production was so great & intensive that Trowbridge was called 'the Manchester of the west' during this period.
The Salter Company owned the last working mill in Trowbridge, Home Mill, which only closed in 1982.
The second floor is now home to the Trowbridge Museum, which is free to visit, and where you can learn all about the textile industry, which played such an important part in Trowbridge past history.
