This fine Jacobean stone Manor House dates back to 1647 and replaced an earlier house on the site which records tell us was destroyed by fire.
My picture is taken from the Churchyard where the Manor House joins.
The Manor House has a symmetrical gabled front of three bays and three stories with a porch, with open scroll pediment over the door.
It retains the stone mounting steps for horsemen beside the garden wall and a prominent feature of the property is the granary which stands on tall stone pillars.(Building to the right hand side)
The house and farm belonged to the Long family since 1799 and was not inhabited by any other member of the family until the first dowager Viscountess, known locally as Lady Doreen, made it her home in the late 1920s.
The Manor House in 1947 provided the location for a film by Harlech Television. The film was about vampires with film star Glynis Johns’ speared with a stake’ as a female vampire.
What a beautiful manor house, again lovely symmetry. Beautifully captured and processed. Fascinating looking graveyard next door as well. Great history.
Great capture!
