'Well Fielded' by ajisaac

'Well Fielded'

Today's view is of part of the cricket pitch that belongs to Monkton Combe School, an independent school on the edge of Bath, hence the title 'Well Fielded'

In the winter during prolonged heavy rain the little river under the bridge called Midford Brook, overflows and floods the pitch, before flowing into the river Avon.

The brook forms the boundary point between the Counties of Wiltshire and (Bath & North East) Somerset.

Not far from the gloriously named 'Brassknocker Hill' and the famous 'Dundas Aquaduct', you get a free view of the match from you car window when stuck in traffic on the bridge!
Such lovely green tones and shadows in the bridge!

Looks like a tablecloth must be a cricket pitch. What a great spot for it. What happens when the ball ends up in the river? Is it a 6 or 12!!

@tramway Thank you-indeed it is a cricket pitch. I think if you hit the ball in the river you've won the game!!!!

@pflaume Thanks-our cricket pitches are sometimes (as in this case) a work of art & the groundsman is really proud of keeping the pitch in pristine condition
