Former Life Saver

St Davids Lifeboat Station (based in St Justinian, St Davids, Pembrokeshire, Wales) is a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station.

It was opened in 1869 and to date has been involved in saving over 360 lives at sea in more than 420 launches. The station operates both an all-weather and an inshore lifeboat.

This is a shot of the old lifeboat station, as a new one was constructed just a short distance away.

Garside (the name of the lifeboat) was withdrawn from service and launched down the slipway of this old boathouse for the last time on 21 October 2016 on her way back to the RNLI depot at Poole for decommissioning.
Interesting building. I like how you share the history in your photos.

The RNLI do such a great job. I saw a programme recently about someone who was converting an old lifeboat station like this to a house - the end result was fabulous.

@nickspicsnz Thanks for your comments - the programme you watched sounds interesting. One of the 'classic' conversions of an old RNLI is the one at Tenby (seen on Grand designs). I have photographed that too.
