In the small countryside town of Llandysul there lies a large building housing The Porth Inn with this symbol on it.
I believe it is probably masonic but could be some other guild. I cannot find anymore information on it at the moment.
If anyone has any ideas I would be pleased to know.
It is thought that on the site of Porth Inn, which is an old coaching in, could have once been the local court of Owain Glyndŵr.
Glyndŵr was a Welsh leader, soldier and military commander who led a 15 year long Welsh War of Independence with the aim of ending English rule in Wales during the Late Middle Ages.
Owain was an educated lawyer, forming the first Welsh Parliament (Welsh: Senedd Cymru) under his rule, and was the last native-born Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales.
I think it’s the Cyclists’ Touring Club. I’ve googled the badge and it looks identical.
Hotels could display this sign to let cyclists know that they were welcome at their establishments.
Fascinating narrative to go with your picture too.
@pattyblue Thanks Pat - I believe you are absolutely right. I looked at the Cyclist's Touring Club and the badge is spot on. I can now see it with the wheel & spokes! Many thanks for your help :)
