Garden orb weaver by alia_801

Garden orb weaver

A week or so ago I got a pic of this guy in his spectacular web. Today's web was looking a bit scrappy, but he was hanging about lower down so I got a couple of good shots of him... Here you go - our 'pet' garden orb weaver...
Cool shot.

I wonder if you call your pet spider Charlotte too? Alia, while in Gin Gin I saw three large green parrots with black bands around their neck - any idea what they might be? Wasn't quick enough to get a photo, sorry.

@brittgow Hi Britt, The closest match I can find in my bird book is an indian ringneck: http://www.featheredkids.com/newt2d.html - does that match what you saw?

@clarissajohal I'd estimate 7-8cm leg-to-leg. No idea how you tell whose male or female in the spidey world, though I think females are usually larger so this could well be a she... How big is your spider?
