50 years ago today Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit our planet, taking us from an Earthbound species to one with the potential to eventually explore among the stars. We have yet to reach that potential, but there are many intrepid souls contributing to the dream. The Astronomy Outreach Group I'm part of at work organised a special public talk to celebrate the occasion, so I've been busy with that all day. This pic is of the T-shirt I bought specially.
