After a fairly quiet night in the St John Ambulance comms room, keeping up with all the first aid crews across Melbourne I got home to our neighbours having their own 'party' (loud music and random fireworks) until about 4am... Then just when I got to sleep the feathered ones woke up...
Once I'd come around a ilttle I made a quick trip to the local shop to get a newspaper, grabbing this pic on the way through. Despite my lack of sleep, the morning seemed bright. I've spent most of the rest of today melting in the sticky heat we've got here (tomorrow's going to be hotter still - yuck!). Somehow it seems to be easier to be motivated and bright when it's winter at new year - the middle of summer never feels quite like the right place to start new things to me... Still, the flowers are pretty and the parrots are playful...
Happy New Year Alia, these flowers look so bright and happy to be alive are they thistles, haha there are lots of them. It is melting sticky weather over here in the West as well.
@http365proj Hi Shirley, they're mostly dandelions I think. It's a good job I got the pic this morning. We popped out at lunch time and when I got back they'd all wilted!
Happy New Year Alia - we only know New Year's in the summer, so seems perfectly normal to us LOL HOWEVER, it is very hot and sticky and no, I'm not looking forward to the next couple of days either. Sparky was very vocal this morning too, especially when I was hoping to keep my granddaughter sleeping!
happy new year! i've grew up in the tropics so i know about a hot start to the new year, not counting the smell of fireworks in the morning. what i can't get used to over the last twenty-some years is a quiet new year's eve. and even more a quiet new year's morning. it's scorching heat in there, and here we're bracing for a really cold weather today and tomorrow. cheery little picture depicting the first day of the year. happy new year to you.
Looks like a nice sunny start to 2012. I was a little concerned that our new year was going to be a noisy one as one of the empty houses around the corner seemed to be filled with college students all of a sudden. But they did all their hooting and hollering just before midnight and it was pretty quiet after that. Sorry yours didn't time out as well between neighbors and birds, but I hope you were able to get that nap in!
@dannydavies I'm a winter person - I'd take rain over 40C heat any day of the year!
@laurentye I'll try to send some summer your way if you can send some cold by return post!
