More exciting structures from the house...

This is one of those ceiling thingies. No idea why it's there - it came with the house!
I like the optical illusion with these things where they can look like they're going in or sticking out depending on how your brain works...

Beautiful capture. The house I grow up had lots and large ornaments like this on the ceilings.
There is no special need for this , they just like it ,those days. Often there was in the middle a connection for a chandelier

Oh boy- I used to know the name of these things- I think Laraine might be right with medallion, but I can't remember now! Nice capture though.
