Five years ago today Victoria experienced some of the most deadly bushfires in Australia's history. Hundreds of individual fires burned, claiming 173 lives, injuring hundreds and leaving many more homeless. The toll on wildlife, cattle, sheep and other animals was incalculable.
Flags flew at half mast across the state today to remember all those affected by Black Saturday - victims, families, friends, emergency services, volunteers, wildlife carers and all others.
Wow. Has it been five years already? It doesn't seem that long ago. What a nice tribute to the day, Alia. It's a beautifully composed shot and the black and white gives it a quiet feel. Well done.
