I met up with a friend in the city centre. We went for lunch at a nice cafe, then visited the lovely new library. (We found out that after building it, the council is now planning to strip it of most funding, forcing them to reduce opening hours, facilities -including kids books- and exhibitions. Total madness). I also passed Bully, the Bull Ring bull, who is festively dressed in his gingerbread outfit.
Hope you are enjoying your holiday. The girls will be missing you. Lovely to see Birmingham through your eyes. QCWA is studying the Midlands this year for our International Project so I'm very interested in what you are sharing. Happy New year.
Sounds like a great place for sight-seeing and catching up with friends. Such a sad fate for the library, but oddly enough I can see why it would get cut as I see so many people reading from kindles and getting their information from google instead of a book. I'm not saying it's a good thing- but I can see how its importance is lost on those sold out to technology.
Nice shots, Alia. That's sad about the library. They shouldn't do that. Leave it as is. Don't they realize that finding a quiet place to sit and read and think is important?
