We don't really have letterboxes (in the front door) here. There are mailboxes at the end of the driveways, and postboxes in the street. As mail goes into these boxes, I took their photo for today's challenge :)
We have to go to the post office to mail our letters. we used to just put our mail into our individual mail box and when the mailman/lady comes they would take it out and with them to the post office. they cut that service out. love those two different letterboxes of yours.
It once was an exciting moment to receive a letter in the mail, to pry open the envelope and unfold the words sent by a friend or relative; letters that were wrapped in ribbon and stored in worn shoe boxes. Now we send impartial messages that zip through the air which are deleted in seconds. Thank you for reminding us of days long gone. Your post boxes are weathered, but they are determined.
I really like your comment and you make me think also of the excitement there used to be when the phone rang - now it's almost always a nuisance call and we all get cross.
Love these bright primary colours but I would make the red one for express post!
@bruni They seem to be cutting services everywhere.
@moniquenadeau I still get excited when I get an actual card or letter (not just a bill). I've just finished writing lots of cards, so hopefully some of my friends will be excited too :)
@johnfalconer I know - and they're ridiculously expensive already. They don't seem to understand that the more expensive they make the service, the less people use it!
