How do you move a 108 tonne truck across a city? Very carefully!
There was huge interest in a project to move a heavy generator across town to the port (it has to be shipped to Germany for maintenance). Because of its weight, four trucks (and a spare) were needed, making the convey longer than an A380 aeroplane! The route had to be carefully selected too, to ensure the roads were strong enough and wide enough to take the load, and with no low bridges. Even though it was around midnight, there were lots of people on the street to watch the feat of engineering and logistics!
@bruni It will be going to Germany by ship. It took three days to move it across the state to the port. I'm not sure how long the sea trip will be. Apparently it will be making the return journey in October, once it's been maintained.
