Athena in Nashville

Athena Parthenos is 41 feet, 10 inches tall, making her the largest piece of indoor sculpture in the Western World. There are about 12 inches between the top of her helmet and the ceiling beams. Her weight is estimated at 12 tons. The statue of Nike, the goddess of victory, in Athena's right hand is 6 feet 4 inches tall. Nike holds a wreath of victory preparing to crown Athena. This is the story of how the Athena statue was built in Nashville.

I took this picture when I was in Nashville in April but thought it was worthy of being included in this theme because of the sheer size and majesty of this sculpture.
