We're on our way to Florida to see our son and grand daughter. We broke our trip in St. George, South Carolina at a motel at an exit on the interstate. They did have a swimming pool where I was the only visitor and I was able to take a few pictures. The cardinal is the state bird of Virginia so maybe it is following along to insure a safe trip.
This is the first year in a while where we don't have a cardinal or two in our yard or neighbor's.
@your comment - In the past I have been really close to taking a picture of a flattened squirrel, but always chose not to because of Lauren and Louise. Getting more tempted though.
He is beautiful! Being relatively new to South Carolina, I still really enjoy the cardinals we have. You were really quite close to me....too bad we couldn't have met up!
We have cardinals in Hawaii and I have been trying toi get a decent shot for a couple of weeks now! Yours is terrific!
Another peel of the Denise onion ... I went to HS on Guam and we called these trees "flame trees." Here in Hawaii, they use the more correct name of Royal Poinciana. I DO think that flame and flamboyant have the same root (thus my title)!
