Who remembers when the month of January was traditionally the time department stores had sales on sheets? (Who remembers the quaint concept of the department store?) Anyway I was sick of our bedding and we went shopping for new sets. It used to be you would select the sheets with the highest thread count that you could afford. Well friends, I have one word for you: MICROFIBER! I discovered that microfiber sheets are as soft and light as silk, a dream to wash and dry (thereby saving energy) and a pleasure to slip in between for a great night's sleep. I am purging my linen closet of all the old sheets and starting fresh in the new year.
I must tell my Wife, as she is focussed onthe high thread counts. As long as it's not like silk. I don't want to be slipping out of bed during the night.
The embroidery is lovely and you did a great job of just the right framing to show it off. I haven't heard of Microfiber sheets. I went through a phase about ten years ago and I now have enough linens (bedding, bathroom linens, table cloths, etc.) to supply a small hotel. @digitalrn According to what I've read, and according to Dr. Oz, the higher the thread count the less the fabric can breath and it's best to have sheets that breath.
Very pretty photo...I am thrilled with the new high thread count cotton sheets I bought last year but next time I am in the market for more I shall definitely check out microfiber...though I must say natural fiber still has an appeal to me.
These are so pretty. I had no idea microfiber sheets were so soft, light and easy to care for. That's what I'll be looking for when I get new sheets which is soon. Thanks for posting this.
Yours have a very pretty pattern. I bought some when I was in Germany..microfiber....only that they are stretchy..oh so easy to pull over the matraze. they fit like a glove....not a wrinkle on them even after sleeping on them all night. wish I had bought more sets as I haven't seen them in stores for sale here.
Well, I never even knew that microfiber was an option for sheets! I am definately going to try them out, that is, once I can pack away the flannel sheets after winter ;-) These are beautiful and I love the way you framed it!
what a pretty delicate shot! And thanks for the tip! We house-sit for some relatively wealthy people, and one of my favorite parts of the experience is the amazingly soft sheets. We looked up the sheets, and they were like $1600 a set! Assuming microfiber is a better price, I think I'll go for the microfiber!
