Hooked on Books is over for another summer. The final event of our second 2 week camp session consisted of songs and fun provided by kindergarten teacher Mr. Turner, followed by sharing stories written by the campers. Note that on this last day we all wore our camp shirts so there s a sea of blue uniting us. Although I like to spotlight all the kids equally, I couldn't resist sharing a portrait of Mr. Turner with this special little guy. He has had many health issues and surgeries and as a result must take special precautions, especially in the blistering heat we have all had to endure this week. And yet he is always cheerful and eager to do his best. He is an inspiration to us all.
The picture on the bottom shows some of the great staff that participate in this program, both teachers from our school and their assistants, who are college students or recent grads.
GREAT collage!! I love how you brought out the color of the shirt in the frame. And I like how it features some of the things/people that make Hooked on Books so special. Make sure you put this up somewhere to encourage kids to take part next summer- it's awesome!
Great collage. I thought about you today when I was in our Borders Book Store . They are closing them in Indiana. Makes me wonder if reading is going to be a lost pass time.
Very charming shot. That little guy is very appealing and I cans ee why you featured him. Thx for your kind words. My uncle was old and lived a full life until his last day. My dad's cousin was released from pain. They were both very religious. So, it is okay.
