My friend Karen @hwy61 showed you one element of the welcome for kindergartners today. Here are a couple of the festive balloons (in school colors) that also greeted them when they arrived to meet their teachers.
How different school was today from the quiet of yesterday! All the students came informally to connect with friends, stop in to visit with last year's teacher and, of course, to meet their teachers and see who woud be in their class. I don't know which is more exciting: the first day of school or the last!
I love how your school makes the first day fun and festive. I'm sure it helps the kids, especially kindergartners and other new students feel a little more at home when classes begin.
