A Sign of Spring

You might come to Richmond for the flowering azaleas and dogwood, but you won't leave without a healthy dose of pollen. At this time of year EVERYTHING is covered with a fine green dust. Children with allergies can't play outside, and even when you are indoors you will probably find yourself wiping your eyes, coughing and sneezing. The pollen comes from trees and grass. According to The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America Richmond comes in #8 in the list of cities with the worst pollen-induced allergies.
Wow! I've never seen this much pollen. Great pictures.

That's how our vehicles looked last Spring- we'll see for this one. The trees aren't budding yet. Your collage is making my nose itchy!

I really Don’t Like pollen season. It’s time to break out the moist wipes and the paper mask (to cover my nose and mouth) to wipe down the dash on at least a daily basis. @mrssmith Pollen season is just beginning. It gets much worse. Very soon, my off-white car will look chartreuse. A few years ago, I managed to inhale enough pollen (in my normal activities) to coat my vocal chords making them swell and leaving me with laryngitis. Now, I keep the top up on the car, turn on the A/C to run for a few minutes before I get in the car – so the pollen dust will settle first, I keep the windows closed, don’t touch the car any more than I have to, and refrain from yard work until pollen season is gone.
