Trying to get a picture at noontime is tricky because of the shadows but now that the students are back, my photo-taking time is limited. I loved the designs on the shell of this beetle. I think the scientific term for the hard shell on a turtle is carapace. I'm not sure if that works for an insect, but it is a great word.
Great shot, especially considering the time of day! Mid-day is so hard to get a good shot of anything - you managed to get great details on this beetle!
