Blackberry Lily by allie912

Blackberry Lily

The rule in the school garden is never eat anything. Although they look like ripe blackberries, what you see here are the seeds of the blackberry lily. In researching this ornamental plant, I learned something startling. According to Wikipedia, "In 2005, based on molecular DNA sequence evidence, Belamcanda chinensis, the sole species in the genus Belamcanda, was transferred to the genus Iris and renamed Iris domestica. This is what the flower looks like: http://www.plantoftheweek.org/week099.shtml
You can see the pods from which the seeds pop out.
