Here's a lesson I learned. It is difficult to take a picture of a feather outdoors. The slightest puff of air, which you normally wouldn't notice, lifts the feather and sends it on its way. I refused to admit defeat, however, and got this one on the rough sidewalk The feather itself was discovered in a book that had been returned. It was being used as a bookmark!
I love how the background mimics the pattern in the feather. Fun shot. Guineafowl feathers are my favourite to shoot. The guinea run around all over our garden and make a huge racket at the most un-appreciated times while they rip up the garden for tasty bits, but it's nature-on-one and we love them. Btw: Did you know they're indigenous to Africa?
@thebluegnu We actually have afloat ale in our library titled How the guinea fowl got her spots : a Swahili tale of friendship. I hadn't really focused on this as a feather from a guinea fowl. Thanks for the help!
