The entire Lower School is gathered for the December Town Meeting. There is lots of lively music as the Cantorian singing group leads the other students in song and the 4th grade band performs. The 5 Christmas trees represent the 5 grade levels of the Lower School. This year the students were encouraged to bring $5 gift cards to be hung in decorated envelopes on their grade level's tree. The trees were then given to Freedom House, the community organization that works with the homeless and working poor in Richmond. Here you see Mr. Fletcher Johnson, the representative of Freedom House thanking the children for their gifts. You might remember Mr. Johnson from a picture in October: http://365project.org/allie912/whatintheworld/2012-10-12
After the Town Meeting I actually had 2 kindergarten classes come for their regular library periods. The teachers were happy to send their kids to the library so they could get their classrooms ready for January. It does seem funny to undecorate before Christmas, but it would be much worse to return to school in January and have to take it all down then.
