Absolutely No Redeeming Value

Easter is coming, the season of decorated eggs and colorful candy. We used to call these circus peanuts, and there is no question that they are colorful -- the most garish shade of orange possible. I remember the year I was 8, getting one of those toys with a wooden paddle and a small rubber ball attached by a long rubber band. Nestled on the paddle was a clutch of these circus peanuts. Just thinking about it now makes my teeth ache, but at the time it seemed a rare treat. What empty calories did the Easter Bunny leave you in your younger days?
BTW, I spotted these at the grocery store; I did not buy them.
allison , i'm so pleased to know you didn't buy them :)

I don't remember having these candies. I remember always having jelly beans and sometimes we received chocolate bunnies.

Well, these used to be a favorite, but also those green spearmint leaves, and the orange slices, loved them.

Mmmmm! Circus Peanuts! Brachs brand was the best. Speaking of Brachs...in our Easter baskets were Bunny Basket Eggs - marshmallow eggs with a candy shell. Yum. Pure sugar. I seek them out every year. This year I found them online for $24.39 for 2 pounds, but then I found them at Walgreens. Here is a pic: http://www.candyfavorites.com/brachs-easter-hunt-marshmallow-eggs

Golly, it's been years since I've seen these. All I know is when I was a kid, I could hardly wait to see that Easter basket in the morning. Every year my mom used the same basket and decorated it herself with colored eggs and all kind of good candy. Ah, memories!
