We left our motel at 6:30 AM and met the sun an hour later up the road on I-95. I took this picture from the car and expected it to be the only photo of the day.The trip ended at our door at 1:30 PM and we ready to congratulate ourselves on a perfect celebration from beginning to end. Then I walked into the living room and saw a picture off the wall. When I opened the drapes to see what had happened, I saw the problem-- water dripping through the ceiling. Rushing upstairs to the hot water heater, I found a stream of hot water spouting up from the top of the heater. John quickly shut off the main water valve and called our home owners insurance company. It wasn't long before we had Service Pro, the dry out company, and a plumber each doing their part to get us back to normal. What we originally thought was a burst hot water heater turned out to be a cracked hose; not as expensive to replace but the amount of damage was the same.) We have huge fans in place all over, base boards removed and ceiling ripped out but at least we have a plan in place. And I took many, many photographs for the insurance company. Not particularly artistic, but I hope they will document our claim.
Beautiful SC sunrise and I love the peaceful cloud formations. Sorry to hear about the damage while you were gone. A similar thing happened to a friend when they were gone for a week....they came home to a flood (due to a plumbing problem) and had to eventually move to temporary housing for 4 months while their house had to be totally rehabbed. Why do these things happen when one is away? So far we've been lucky. I hope all works out with the insurance company.
Sounds like you got home just in time! What a way to end a nice visit- but just think if you hadn't arrived when you did- that would have been even worse! Beautiful sky though.
