A month ago John and I returned from the happy occasion of Max and Sarah's wedding to be met with flooding from a cracked hose to the hot water heater on the second floor. A week of drying by a company specializing in clean-ups, followed by three weeks of back and forth between our homeowner's insurance company and the condo association insurance company has led us to this point -- i.e. no discernible change.
Actually there is good news on the horizon. Our contractor came out today to measure and make a list of our wishes. Next week he will be in touch with the insurance folks to figure out who will pay for what and maybe by Christmas we can use our living room again.
The part you can't see here is all our furniture pushed together in the middle of the room. Definitely not a setting for gracious living.
My sister went through 6 months of an even worse situation caused by a leaking ice maker that went undetected for a long time. But now she has a new kitchen!
Had another friend who had much of the same happen after they were away a week. Had to move out of their house and it took 4 months before they're finally settling in. Almost makes one not want to leave the house :-) I hope this will be resolved and complete in time for Christmas. So sorry.
A too familiar story. something similar happened to my sister in law in Germany shortly after we got back from our vacation. we were staying at her house. I can't imagine what it's like to have to wait so long to get it fixed. hope it get's done before the holidays.
