I was in the school garden trying to locate a song bird who was finishing his concert. Finally he took off from his perch and swooped from one edge of my field of vision to the other. I could just see him light on a piece of sculpture on the far end of the garden, so I quickly raised my camera and extended my zoom to its maximum. Saying a prayer that he wouldn't be spooked by my movements, I managed to take several quick pictures. Thankfully he kept his pose. Then when I lowered my camera and crept a little closer, no longer concerned that he would fly off, I made an embarrassing discovery. Here, in the picture above, you can see why I needn't have worried.
