The Second Grade classes have been studying the Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States and how pollution from as far away as Cooperstown, NY could effect the Bay by moving from Otsego Lake, down the Susquehanna River, and emptying into the Chesapeake. To demonstrate what the students had learned and to give them a chance to make a case for keeping our lakes and rivers clean, the science teacher and I set up a FaceTime session with Mr. Cooper of Cooperstown. Only now can it be told that Mrs. Williams, the librarian, stationed in the Library Classroom represented Mr. Cooper who was otherwise occupied. Did my mustache and geeky glasses fool you? Well they didn't fool the kids either, but they enjoyed the video chat no matter who was on the other end of the call.
