Since the high for the day was only in the 20s, it was determined we would have "indoor" carpool dismissal, where the kids stayed inside to wait to be picked up. Just as the students lined up in the halls, the fire alarm went off so naturally everyone had to file out and stand in the cold. Here you see the fire truck which showed up a few minutes later. (When it is a planned drill, the fire truck doesn't come.) It turns out our warning system sensed some compromise in the electrical system in the library building and sounded the alarm. After a frigid half hour we got the all-clear. By that time all the students had been picked up so it was just the remaining teachers who happily returned to their classrooms to thaw out.
Lol I am in North Carolina taking care of my nieces, they were two hours late with 17 degrees, in Minnesota it was 17 BELOW with a -33 windchill and we had school. Every area is so different
I would WELCOME "only in the 20's"! Our 14 below windchill today had school cancelled. Supposed to be even colder tomorrow. Ugh! Anyway, great shot of the action, Allison!
@juliedduncan@httpgeffed the public schools were still out today and tomorrow. Being an independent school, we have more flexibility. We didn't even go in late.
i like the colours of the fire engine
glad nothing serious happened
